General Care for Products
Please look into the product description page for any advice on how to care for your handmade items.
For jewelry:
- After wearing your jewelry, wipe with a clean, soft, barely damp cloth to remove any dirt or cosmetics.
- Store each piece of jewelry individually in a soft pouch or cloth to prevent scratching. Avoid salt water and harsh chemicals such as chlorine or detergents, which can harm gold and gemstones.
For clothing:
1. Hand wash with care using mild detergent and room temperature or cold water. Do not wring. Air dry only. Wash color, denim, and whites separately.
2. If machine wash, use a delicate or short cycle with lukewarm or cold water. Mild detergent is best.
3. For items with embroidery: Embroidered part should always be ironed on the reverse side, in between two pieces of cloth. Do not wet the embroidery prior to ironing. Do not use a steam iron.
4. For items with indigenous textiles or textile treatments such as weaving: As these are mostly handwoven, some parts may loosen or snag. Avoid getting it in contact with sharp or abrasive objects.
For candles:
- Each time you light your candle, be sure to let the wax in your candle melt completely to the edges of the container (about 1 hour) before blowing it out. This will help prevent “tunneling" where only the wax in the center of the candle melts down.
- For the best candle care, remember to avoid burning any candle for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time. This is a safety precaution and will make it so that your candle can be used again on multiple occasions.
- Trimming the wick of your candle before you relight it is essential to keeping your candles clean and burning nicely. Always check that the wick is centered in the melted wax and regularly trim to about ¼” tall.
- If you don't like the smoke of an extinguished wick, try using a wick snuffer or dipper.
- To keep dust out of your candle when it is cooled and not in use, remember to cover yours a few hours later with a paper topper, lid or cotton bag that it may have come with.
